Lorient Beach Lorient is a quiet, picturesque village, housing a church built during the mid-19th Century, an old bell tower, convent and school, recently renovated. The A.J.O.E. youth center shows movies on the tennis courts from time to time ; in case of rain, simply use your chair as an umbrella. You will adore the tiny post office, as well as the two beautiful cemetaries. On All Saints Day (the day after Halloween) the natives light red candles on the graves in memory of the departed. There is a wonderful hotel/restaurant which features a zany French cabaret show. Don't miss the fine factory which produces organic cosmetic care products made from the island's natural flora. The family beach of Lorient is 630 yards long, and the still waters are perfect for swimming. On the far end, however, the waves kick up, providing a surfers' paradise. |
