Anse des flamands Beach Is the village, and is rich in local color and vegetation, particularly, banana and coconuts palm trees. You will also notice aloe vera plants, hibiscus flowers, bouganvillias, white lilies, and wild pears amongst many other species. The hills of Flamands have wonderful paths to explore by foot, and on top of the mountain overlooking the sea, you will find the horse ranch. At the edge of the village, you will find the beautiful beach of Flamands, a long strech of white sand, curiously seldom visited, it is perfect for a lote morning jog, its air refreshed by the Ocean's mist. It is one of the largest in width on the island, and is picturesque of the Carribean dream. Try to find the recently paved road leading from the center of Flamands up to Colombier, this one is reminiscent of those in San Francisco as it appears to be on a 90° angle. At the far end of the main road, you will discover Anse Pashel, a serene little cove, frequented by fishermen and perfect for children. Continue down the road for the footpath leading to Colombier Beach, which is by far one of the most beautiful walks on the island. Don't forget a bottle of water and perhaps some picnic supplies. The twenty minutes hike will take you through many changes of scenery including a small cave; the various look out points are magnificient. Colombier Beach is a beautiful, white sand beach, completely uninhabited except for peacocks, a few mules and the boats which anchor in these pleasing waters. The water es extremely calm, thus attracting many small boats, and is perfect for swimming, water skiing, and scuba diving. |
